Hi Almaty Hashers.
Very impressed with the website, but no email addresses! So I have to bother you all.
I work for British Airways (BMED really), and we are now stopping in town for a few nights so I hope to be a regular visitor to your hash, when my ‘trips’ to Almaty have me there on Sundays. I will try to bring the whole crew hashing. They may come if I emphasise ‘beer’ and leave out ‘running’.
My home hash is the Teign Valley H3 in Devon UK.
If all goes well I will probably be in town on Aug 7 or just after, but on a ‘social’ with my wife & 2 boys.
So can I ask for some advice?
What are the ‘must do’ things for a 7 day trip? We like outdoor stuff (bikes, water, walking etc). Perhaps some of your hashers are connected with such things.
Anyway all advice & contacts welcome. Hope to see you on the 8th if I can drag myself out of bed after 4hrs sleep!

I’ve just got back from Amman and I will definitely (inshala) be coming over but on the 9aug so will be on the 15aug hash.
Thanks for the concern for my lads delicate ears but I’m sure they can out-curse many sailors.
Having spoken to some returning crew they give the impression that it is very expensive to eat and drink in Almaty? There must be great collective knowledge amongst the hash about where to get a cool beer and some good grub. Somewhere called ‘soho’ was recommended but I think the crews have not been very adventurous so far. Perhaps you can give me a few eating suggestions. Is it OK to take an 11 year old into a pub/bar?
I think the hotel (Hyatt) does day trips to the hills etc but suspect they may be a bit of a rip-off compared to local options.
Finally, if your website photos are anything to go by this is the youngest looking hash I have seen……ever! I hope there are some other old gits. What is the usual turn-out on a Sunday? Do you go out of town for the run?
