After much careful considerations of events of the recent months, both in our own personal lives and at the hash, I am announcing that effective immediately, MMC and I will be resigning our positions on the Tien Shan HHH mismanagement committee as Hash Cash and Grand Master/Religious Adviser, respectively.

At this time we find that we are unable to commit the time, energy and enthusiasm that these positions richly deserve. Rather than wait until such time as those able to perform these duties volunteer, we have decided to let the hash choose from among its own numbers those to perform these duties.

My company will continue to host this website free of charge as it has done for the past two years, and will provide administrative access and instructions to those whom the mismanagement committee will nominate to keep it updated, provided this is done so in a manner in keeping with the spirit of the hash.

All the hash paraphernalia in our possession will be turned over as soon as possible to a trustworthy hasher who will keep it to be given to those who will form the new mismanagement committee. When this is done it will also be posted in this space.

The first task the new mismanagement committee will need to tend to will be the arrangement for sponsorship and/or meeting place. With the decreased spending of the hash in local restaurants, it has been difficult to maintain good a good relationship with establishments such as Mad Murphy's and Dublin, and the occasional rowdy behavior of some hashers at these locations has not helped.

Dublin's manager, Andrey, was kind enough to give us a home at Dublin last year, but he has now left that job, and as happened at Murphy's before, our last few trips to Dublin we have seen no beer waiting for us, and Dublin has seen no significant business from hashers outside the mismanagement committee.

We both wish the best to the members of the Tien Shan HHH of whom we have many fond memories.

Cheers and on-on,

Digital Dildo and Make Me Come

Where do you want to go today? (c) Microsoft

So, It's time to decide what do we have now:
1) no more free beer
2) no more place to go
3) no more foreigners to be the GM...

The place could be moved to Stalker, but without free beer
The beer and taxi must have being efforted by the hashers by increasind the regular charge up to 600 tenge (or even more) for all (if we expect for 10 hashers to come)
Futhermore, we need the camera and new GM...

Looking forward for any opinions...

OnOn!

Hi guys! After reading all the recent comments ("Monkey circus" and "GM and HC resignation") I become more and more sad.
Well, first - what is happening to u all? And I personally will be very upset if won't have fun with all u guys every Sunday. Yep, there is a kind of problem to some of hashers to control their behavior (we know whose).
Something has to be changed. Hopefully new GM will succeed in it.
But i really believe that the Tien Shan HHH will not just vanish in the air. Do something!
My best wishes,

increasing the fee

We shall give some thought to that suggestion... and inform everyone on any decision. Maybe not quite as much of a raise, but the truth is that the fees have remained the same ever since I have been a hasher here (3,5 years), whereas everything else in the city has become more expensive.

We shall also think about the relevance of the system whereby a hasher bringing a virgin does not pay. That system was adopted in order to increase the numbers of regular hashers, it is time now to check the attendance patterns to verify the system has had the expected effect.

resignation

My first comment seems to have never appeared (this shows how computer literate I am) but in the meantime I can say I am very surprised at the very few comments read so far.
I have to say that I missed Make me Come and Digital Dildo at this last run and that I was quite shocked by their resignation letter and the turmoil before that. Given that nobody seems to take the time to voice it, let me also express my gratitude to both of them, on different levels, for having been there so long and tirelessly for the Hash. MMc's welcoming smile whenever I pushed Dublin's door, her warmth and her friendliness to all will be dearly missed, and DD's efficiency in running the Hash business, marvellous job with the website and the pictures and the stories and what not, also. I do hope to see them occasionally on the trails.
Now, we should also thank DD for still hosting the Hash website, and please anybody more computer literate than I am, make yourself known, good will is needed here!
The same applies to the rest, anyone with a digital camera?
I am negociating with Dublin and other places to find a solution, these pages will keep you posted. As Temir Dick said, any suggestion is welcome.
Finally, part of the lost comment was: most of us have a sense of 'belonging', thanks to the continuity of the Hash, incresed visibility thanks to the site, hash trash proudly worn by hashers, etc. But a group like this takes more than just belonging, it need a little 'commitment'. And responsabilities are always lighter when shared !
This is just a reminder, food for thought while I am still one of the Mismanagers. My task and that of the remaining members of the Committe will be to prepare the following one, and organize an erection run. We therefore have a few weeks ahead of us... On-On!

Re: So Long, Farewell

many fond memories... indeed!

DD and MMC are resigning, and it makes me wonder what has happened in the three months I was away!!! Before we start thinking about the future, and maybe to get things straight for the future, we should remember about our past. Many times this year I have repeated that the hash might not have survived without these true hashers, who have committed time, energy and enthusiasm as they say, on and on.
Not only that, but the website has been a tool and special space developped by DD which has enhanced communication a lot amidst our group, and has attracted many visitors. They all say, these people from abroad who happen to come accross our site, (or people like me away for too long that use the site to not feel completely disconnected) that it is so lively, that it shows how great a group we are.

Are we really? Let's think about it, truly the site has done a lot to our sense of 'belonging' to a group, but it takes more than that. Belonging is nice, showing up from time to time (or even quite regularly) to meet good old friends, run or walk the hash and have fun drinking a few beers, is all great. But being part of a group like ours should also be synonimous to "partaking" in it. Belonging is fine, committing is even greater. And when the commitment is shared, not only the pleasure is but also the burdens (which are lighter when shared by the way). This is not to be moralizing, but to make everyone of us (of you, given that I myself will be leaving Almaty shortly) start to think about how she or he can contribute to the group.

Now, let's not be alarmist, I am confident (and hope that the future will prove that this is not overconfidence) that new energies will arise, and enthusiasm will reappear. I only regret that it takes the resignation of the two most active members of the mismanagment comitee to trigger a reaction (when more than three months ago they were already voicing the same concerns...) For now, I am negociating today with Dublin to remain there with free beer for a couple of weeks until we make a decision. Also, I am thinking soon we should have an erection run, and by then let's hope people will have waken up to their new hash mission! Also, we can always search for other places to meet, but remember that continuity had been a very positive factor... Also, we should all thank DD for his generous offer about the website and the "training" it involves for the next hash flash, hash scribe, etc.

My next message should contain more reflections about concrete things we need to address, but I wanted to give you food for thought at first.

On On! EMP
